The buyer's premium is a percentage of the final hammer price that the buyer of an object must pay in addition to the hammer price of an object. In addition to the Buyer’s Premium, the buyer is responsible for paying all relevant taxes and shipping costs.

The resale right is an extra compensation fee that graphic and visual artists, including photographers, receive if one of their original works of art is resold by an art dealer or auction house. The resale right is calculated when the resale right of the work (excl. VAT) is equal to or greater than € 2,000. The amount of the resale right to be collected is currently:

  • 4% for the portion of the sale price up to € 50,000
  • 3% for the portion of the sale price between € 50,000.01 and € 200,000
  • 1% for the portion of the sale price between € 200,000.01 and € 350,000
  • 0.5% for the portion of the sale price between € 350,000.01 and € 500,000
  • 0.25% for the portion of the sale price exceeding € 500,000

However, the maximum amount of the resale right may not exceed € 12,500 per artwork (per resale).
